For renewal courses, we require students to bring in their current American Heart Association certification cards, as well as proof of completion of pretests for our ACLS and PALS. For hybrid courses such as NRP and HeartCode or other online courses, either a screenshot or print out of the Part 1 Course completion certificate is required. If you have purchased a textbook, please bring it into class.

The American Heart Association requires that each student has access to the textbook before, during, and after the class.

Yes, we have BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses available online. However, skills testing is always required after completion of the online portion of the course.

A renewal class is taken when your certification is about to expire but has not expired yet. The current card is always valid until the last day of the month in which it expires. An initial class is taken when it is your first time being certified, or when your previous certification has expired.

American Heart Association requires students with expired certifications to take the initial provider class. However, in certain circumstances you may challenge a renewal class. If you wish to have more details about this option, please contact the office.

You will be issued an eCard upon completion of your course. Your instructor will provide you with instructions on how to claim your eCard.

We offer classes 7 days a week.

BLS is the CPR class required for anyone working in a healthcare setting, but anyone may take this class. Heartsaver CPR and First Aid is specifically designed for anyone who is not in a healthcare setting.

We issue CEUs for many of our courses. Please note, CEUs vary depending on the type of course you have completed and your medical license. We are approved to provide CEUs by the California Board of Registered Nursing and the California Dental Board.

We recommend checking with your employer before registering for a course to ensure that your certification will meet your employers requirements.

Online Courses

  • The Part 1 course does not have a time limit. You may start and stop at any time. However, for the most benefit, we recommend that you complete it within 30 days. Occasionally, there are course updates or reasons that your time frame will be limited. We will notify you of this by email as soon as we are informed that this might be the case.
  • We recommend students take the skills testing portion within 60 days of completing the online course.

We recommend using a personal computer and either the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser to launch the HeartCode module. If you still have trouble accessing the link, please call our office for further assistance.
